FUTA students drown to death in school

Disaster struck in akure yesterday, Saturday July the first  as two students of the federal university of technology akure, FUTA lost their lives during the usual entrepreneur training, a course which every year three student of the school is mandated to take . The unfortunate incident which led to the death of two student took place at the entrepreneurship training center at the laboratory for Fishery and Aquaculture, at the back of great hall, Obakekere. After the training, four students decided to take a selfie on the canoe packed at the venue, during that process, the canoe which the four of them were in capsized. Four of them found themselves inside the water, two of them narrowly escaped because they were able to swim, while the other two found it difficult to swim which lead to their drowning to death. A student who begged anonymous said the two students who survived ran to the village around the river to get help and were told by the villagers that they couldn't swim. ...

Saraki: FG to send CCT records to Appeal Court this week

The Federal Government is set to transmit to the Court of Appeal sitting in Abuja , over 3 , 000 pages of the records of the 21 months trial of the Senate President, Dr. Bukola Saraki, at the Code of Conduct Tribunal, SUNDAY PUNCH has learnt . The transmission of records of the trial to the Court of Appeal is a legal requirement for the Federal Government to validate its notice of appeal filed against the CCT ’s judgment , which recently discharged and acquitted Saraki of all the 18 charges of false assets declaration . According to legal experts, the Court of Appeal only assigns an appeal number to a case after receiving the “records of appeal ” transmitted to it from the lower court . The records transmission will set the stage for exchange of briefs between the parties involved in the case before a date for hearing of the appeal can be fixed by the Court of Appeal . Evans’ lawyer loses court case, to pay N500,000 fine

The lawyer standing for kidnap kingpin , Chukwudumeme Onwuamadike , aka Evans , has lost yet another case in court . Evans ’ counsel , Olukoya Ogungbeje, was defeated on Friday , when Justice Ibrahim Buba of the Federal High Court in Lagos dismissed two fundamental rights applications filed by him , according to an online medium , NewsMakers . Ogungbeje had reportedly filed the case on behalf of his clients , Messrs Chief Kenneth Chukwuemeka Ajoku and Chidinma Ozurumba , against the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, but it was dismissed for lack of merit and for being frivolous . The judge also awarded a total cost of N 500 ,000 against the two petitioners .
