Glo Declares Friday a Free Data Day

Nigerian telecommunication giant, Globacom has declared Friday, 11th August 2017, as the first Free Data Day on its network. A statement from the telco yesterday, said that this is keeping with the company’s promise of the Free Data Day package which was launched recently, adding that eligible subscribers will get 200 MB free data to enjoy a free day of FREE browsing, chatting, streaming, downloading, uploading and lots more. Glo subscriber should use 100MB plus N150 on voice calls or N250 on voice calls between Friday, 4th and Thursday 10th August to qualify for the data largesse. At the launch of the product, Globacom explained that it is open to all prepaid subscribers, adding that Free Data Day gives Glo customers free data for one whole day when they meet the voice and/or data usage threshold within seven days.

Bukola Saraki Sacks 98 Aides

Senate President Bukola Saraki has sacked his director of protocol, head of administration and 96 others to scale down the number of his aides, our correspondent reliably gathered yesterday. Daily Trust gathered that the affected aides have been issued sack letters through the office of the Chief of staff, Hakeem Baba-Ahmed. It was gathered that with the mass sack, Saraki’s aides have been reduced from over 300 to a little above 200. Daily Trust had exclusively reported in March, 2016, how hundreds of aides engaged by Saraki, the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara, the Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu and Deputy Speaker, Yusuf Lasun weighed down the National Assembly. Air Peace Begins Flight Operations From Lagos To Akure Tomorrow

Air Peace, Nigeria’s leading carrier, is to begin flight operations to Akure, the capital of Ondo, Southwest Nigeria tomorrow. According to the airline, the maiden flight into Akure Airport will take off by 1 pm from the Murtala Muhammed Airport, Ikeja and touch down at Akure Airport at 1:40pm. A statement issued by the Corporate Communications Manager of the airline, Mr Chris Iwarah, said the airline was collaborating with the Governor Rotimi Akeredolu administration to guarantee easy access to Ondo State by investors, tourists and other categories of air travellers. The return flight, Iwarah said, would depart Akure Airport at 2:10pm and land at Murtala Muhammed Airport in Lagos at 2:50pm.
