Biafra agitators, Northern youths will run away if they see war – Retired DIG, Ekpoudom

Retired Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG), Udom Ekpoudom, has warned Biafra agitators and Northern youths issuing threats and provocative speeches against Nigeria to take caution. He said while it was easy to speak of violence, such persons will run away if they witnessed bloodletting on a large scale. Ekpoudom appealed to agitators for Biafra to continue to draw attention of the Federal Government to issues of neglect and marginalization, instead of issuing threats to split the country. He faulted the sit-at-home order issued by Indigenous People Of Biafra (IPOB), saying the order also contravened the law. Ekpoudom said IPOB had no constitutional authority to order a section of the country to sit at home without the consent of the Federal Government, adding that “It amounts to running a parallel government.” On the ultimatum by Arewa youths, Ekpoudom urged the Nigerian Police and the Department of State Services (DSS) to exercise their constitutional manda...

NLC, TUC reveal those who put Nigerians in hardship

The Nigeria Labour Congress and the Trade Union Congress of Nigeria have blamed the hardship and woes in the country on the ruling political elite. The workforce said federalism was not the reason Nigerians were suffering. The NLC President, Ayuba Wabba, and the TUC President, Bobboi Kaigama, who said this during a joint press briefing in Abuja on Thursday, condemned the threats and counter-threats from the northern and southern regions, saying Nigeria could not afford another civil war. The unions’ presidents said the issues under contention would be resolved through good governance and a sustained fight against corruption. The NLC boss said, “Our common enemy, whom we must all resolve to face, remains the corrupt political class, who, instead, of utilising our wealth, choose to loot for themselves and for their children. We, as labour unions, are determined to stop our elite from throwing our nation into another avoidable civil war. “By no imagination should an...

Marijuana Shortage Hits Canada

The biggest challenge for Justin Trudeau’s forthcoming legal recreational marijuana market is a shortage of pot, the finance minister of Canada’s most-populous province says. Ontario’s Charles Sousa said a supply crunch was discussed during a meeting with provincial and federal counterparts this week. Canada is aiming to legalize recreational pot in the next 12 months, the first major economy to do so. One analyst said he’s concerned the government could use a supply shortage as an excuse to delay rolling out the program. “Ultimately the biggest problem that appears after today’s discussion is one of supply,” Sousa said in an interview this week. Finance ministers were told demand is “quite high” for marijuana already in Canada, he said. “So we want to make certain that, when we do proceed, there is sufficient supply to accommodate the activity because what we’re trying to do is curb the illicit use and organized crime that now exists around it.” T...
