NO fewer than 43 higher institutions submitted 120 as their minimum cut-off points for 2017 admission,  The Nation  has learnt. Also, 29 colleges of education submitted 100 as their minimum cut-off mark. Of the 43 institutions, 17 were from private universities. One university, Tansian University, Oba, Anambra State, submitted 110 as its minimum cut-off mark. Nigeria presently has 69 private universities awarding various degrees. Most of the private universities pegged their cut-off marks between 180, 170, 160 and 150. ..  Why JAMB settled for 120 No fewer than five universities have adopted a Unified Tertiary Matriculation Ex­amination (UTME) score of 200 as the minimum cut-off mark for candidates seek­ing admission into such in­stitutions for the 2017/2018 academic session. This is even as it has been discovered that about 23 universities submitted 120  as their cut-off mark at the Joint Consultative Meeting between the Joint Matricu­lation and Admissions Board (JAMB) and heads of tertiary institutions which held pe­nultimate week.  Findings by The AU­THORITY also showed that some polytechnics and colleges of education, even asked for as low as 100 marks for admission during the same academic session. The Ondo State Police Command are trying to uncover the role of a herbalist and three suspected ritualists, who murdered and mutilated two female students of Adeyemi College of Education in the state for money rituals. It was gathered that the victims, Oladepo Blessing and Oluwasemilore Mary, had been missing for over a week before their decomposing and mutilated bodies were discovered by Police detectives. The victims allegedly left their residences and did not return, following which their friends raised the alarm. Reports had it that one of the suspected ritualists was arrested in a robbery operation in Ondo town and his confession led to the arrest of the other two suspects. They reportedly confessed of their various criminal escapades in recent time across the state.
